This guide provides resources for making instructional content accessible.

University Accessibility Policy and Statement

Faculty should include the approved disability accommodation statement in each syllabus. We also recommend that the statement be read aloud by the faculty member during the first week of class.

University policy 3342-3-01.3 requires that students with disabilities be provided reasonable accommodations to ensure their equal access to course content. If you have a documented disability and require accommodations, please contact the instructor at the beginning of the semester to make arrangements for necessary classroom adjustments. Please note, you must first verify your eligibility for these through Student Accessibility Services (contact 330-672-3391 or visit for more information on registration procedures).

The goal behind this statement is to encourage a conversation about the accommodations that a student may need. It is best to speak with the student about their accommodations confidentially. SAS strongly encourages students to meet with their professors during scheduled office hours.

Please remember that students are not required to disclose the nature of their disability to you. It is the student's decision as to how much disability-related information they choose share.
